AZTEC SURPRISE

I've never stepped into a H&M store in Singapore until very recently, because I don't like shopping in highly crowded environments most of the time. A couple of weeks back, I met up with an old friend for dinner and we ended up at the Suntec Mall. The newly furbished wing is bright and spacious, and houses a H&M store. But because most people don't know that the wing is already opened, it's very empty. I then took the chance to pop in to H&M and found this affordable aztec print jacket. For it's price, the jacket is very well made and has a nice structure to it. I can wear it with my basic pieces and it will instantly give the outfit a more updated and trendy feel. I'm loving it!

JOIN THE CIRCUS

The Isetan store in Shinjuku Sanchome Tokyo is probably my favorite departmental store in Japan. It is a fashion heaven that stocks all the latest and most desirable goods from all over the world. On one of my trips to Tokyo a couple of years back, I picked up my very first Anna Sui dress from the Isetan store. It is a dress that starts conversations with its elephants, monkeys, clowns and balloons. Funnily, I found these Opening Ceremony shoes on the same trip and have always liked wearing them at the same time as they go so well together, even though I didn't realise how matchy they were when I bought them!

LONG LOST BOYFRIEND

I love it when I suddenly remember an item that has been hidden in the depths of my wardrobe for months (possibly years for this one). I don't usually look good in shirts, but this one seems to work on me. To balance the voluminous shirt at the top, I matched it with a fitted striped skirt in classic greige and black to keep the outfit sexy and chic at the same time. I'm so happy to rediscover my boyfriend shirt!

BLOCK THE BLUES AWAY

I really love structural clothes. When I first saw this top on Shopbop, I knew in a second that I want it. I kept it in my shopping cart for awhile without checking out, and it shortly went out of stock! I was devastated and kicking myself for not checking out, but luckily for me, it came back in stock a few weeks later! It is such an easy top to wear and will go so well with all my skinny pants and fitted skirts. This outfit reminds me of the white and blue Greek islands of Mykonos and Santorini in the stunning Aegean Sea. Just throw in a timeless Chanel necklace and leopard print pumps to add a touch of interest to the outfit and I'm ready to go. Perfect for days when I don't fancy being fancy.

POW WOW FUCHSIA

When I wore this dress to the office, everyone went "Woooooooooowwwww!!!" I know that to wear a fuchsia dress to the office, or even anywhere else, is not for the faint hearted. But isn't it nice to surprise and brighten up the office just before the weekend? Because I almost never wear flats in the office, but want to retain the cuteness of this dress, I brought out my Madame Mouse heels to keep the outfit fun. And for the sake of this photoshoot, I decided to go all out pink with my violet and pink Carrera shades, the very thing I have been so obsessed with that I have to get 2 pairs of the same design in different colors! Why don't you join me and rock some bright colors on Friday?

LADY X GRUNGE

Who doesn't love a Chanel tweed jacket? It's one of those items that elevates your fashion (and social) status and qualifies as an heirloom item that you can pass down to your daughters and future generations. While it continues to stay on my wish list for the foreseeable future, I got myself a much more affordable tweed item in the meantime. This T-shirt is constructed of light tweed at the front and finished with plain light cotton at the back, making it extremely wearable in the hot and humid climate of Singapore. To add an interesting twist to the outfit, I decided to complete the ensemble with a leather pencil skirt to play with different textures and toughen up the look.

INKED KOI

The prints on this top reminds me of Japanese Koi tattoos frequently spotted on the Yakuza - stunning, breathtaking, intricate artwork inked on the human body. You won't find Koi fish tattoos on me, but I'm more than happy to wear this top with it's beautiful prints and edgy elegance. It's an extremely easy top to wear, and this time I chose to pair it with a slightly structural skirt to contrast with the softness of the top. Surely a keeper for many years to come!

COLORS GALORE

The concept of color therapy has been around for a long time. It uses colors in various forms to heal and create holistic balance in the human body. One form of color therapy involves placing silks of different colors on the body to allow the body to soak up the healing vibrations of the various colors. I've not tried such therapy myself, so I can't speak about it's effectiveness. But if it's true, then perhaps wearing a dress such as this is a shortcut, mobile form of color silk therapy. Even if it doesn't work, looking at the cheerful colors should at least help lift your spirits. Happy week ahead everyone!

WATERCOLOR WRAP

In the final minutes before I had to hop on the very last airport express train that I can possibly take to make it for my flight from Hong Kong back to Singapore, I was desperately browsing through the racks of the Tsumori Chisato store in IFC. I found this lovely silk wrap-around top on the Further Discount rack, of which items are not allowed to be tried on by customers. Despite finding the rule absolutely ridiculous - I just don't see why customers cannot be permitted to try on clothing to see if they fit and look nice on them just because they are on further discounts - I decided to take the risk and purchase it anyway because I really love the colors. Luckily for me, the top fits pretty well. The green and blue strips on the translucent silk top reminds me of the watercolor drawings I used to do when I was a kid. The child-like cutesy prints of Tsumori Chisato's clothing is a lovely break from other serious clothing lines, not to mention the heavy use of cat motifs in her designs. Just in case you are wondering, cats are my favorite animal!
